Dudes and dudettes, just checked out another band, Widowspeak. They have the same style possibly inspired by Mazzy Star, and are rllly good.

This song represents for me the Beggining " of the glorious 80'! A kick in the stomac and know we presents you The Dream Syndicate, The Cure, Joy Division, Bauhaus, B-52's 4AD bands, DCD, etc, Siouxsie&The Banshees, Alan Vega, Nick Cave...so many and all with natural talent! I was 15/16 when I reallise those great bands, Lucky me!

In my opinion this is one of those tracks that should be better known It is brilliant and beautiful. I am typing this missive on the warmest day in the UK so far in 2024 . The track has a summer feel to it . . As good as anything Kendra has ever done in her long career. I would like to know who wrote this track. Was it David R or Kendra ? ditto the track "too little too late " on the DS album "days of wine and roses " (1982)

What words describe Hope Sandoval’s voice? A mystifying finger that probes deep inside your heart. Of this world but apart from it. The voice that is turning inward to sing to herself first, not us. She has that wonderful look in her eyes, with those full lips that can inspire great poetry, and make me want to just quietly embrace her and say thank you thank you thank you.

Better than his later band Mazzy Star imho. Opal is less ethereal and a bit more rooted in traditional folk, blues, and psychedelia of the sixties. Not anything against Hope Sandoval mind you, she's incredible too, but in a very different way meloncholicly. I could listen to this all day while dreaming of better days from a bygone era. If I had to pick another band it would be Cindy Lee which is basically just a darker, noisier version of this.Their latest release is a double cd set and it is absoluetly their very best work to date.
